Monthly Harvest - August 2024

August 2024

Hello Farm to Fork Friends!

Summer is flying by! The Squash Summer Hunger festivities continued this month with a delightful celebration at Majestic Elementary’s summer meal site. Students and their families enjoyed taste-testing both raw and cooked squash, along with zucchini muffins made from our Harvest of the Season recipes! Check out this fantastic feature from Fox 13 to see the event in action!

What to Harvest This Month

The peach harvest is just starting in Utah! Be sure to visit your local farmers market over the next couple of months to add this nutritious fruit to both your sweet and savory summer recipes. Get Involved!

The Farm to School movement is growing strong in Utah! The Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant program awarded a record $14.3 million to support 154 grants, benefiting an estimated 1.9 million students. Even better, a portion of that funding is coming to Utah! The Youth Garden Project will use the funds to provide field trips for Grand County School District students and grow food for school lunches. Congratulations on your successful application!
